- Border - Border refers to the boundary line at the edge of the Web page or module
- CSS - Cascading Style Sheets is a stylesheet language used to describe the presentation of a document written in a markup language. Its most common application is to style web pages written in HTML and XHTML.
- Domain Name - A symbolic name for a computer, that can be translated by a nameserver into a computers formal numeric Internet address (IP address). Domain names let users reference Internet sites without having to know the numerical address.
- Em - An em is a unit of measurement that refers to the font size of the parent element on a Web page
- Graphical User Interface (GUI) - A computer interface that uses pictures and icons instead of text. Pronounced "gooey"
- Hexadecimal - A numbering system which uses a base of 16. Ther first ten digits are 0-9 and the next six are AF. Hexadecimal numbers are used to color Web Pages. For example, the hexadecimal equivalent for the color white is #FFFFFF4.
- Home Page - The introductory page for a World Wide Web site. A home page usually provides an introduction to the site, along with hypertext links to local resources.
- HTML - HyperText Markup Language, a markup language defined by an SGML Document Type Definition (DTD). To document writer, HTML is simply a collection of tages used to mark blocks of text and assign them special meanings.
- Hyperlink - Highlighted graphics or text in a Web page which jumps to a new page or location in the page when clicked. Hyperlinks can also be used to download files.
- Internet Provider - A company from whom users purchase Internet connectivity. This could either be a dedicated connection (for example, a telephone connection that stays open twenty-four hours a day) or a dial-up connection. Usually users run software such as PPP or SLIP to allow Internet connectivity across the line.
- Intranet - An Intranet is a collection of services that an Internet as the underlying communications technology, designed to support business operations and applications.
- Navigation Menu - A list of hyperlinks found at the top, bottom, or left of a Web page allows users to view the major topic pages of a Web site.
- Radio Button - An element in the user interface that allows a user to select an option. Each button represents a mutually exclusive selection
- Rollover - A rollover occurs when the mouse pointer moves over a graphical element and displays a change in appearance.
- Server - A program, running on a networked computer, that responds to requests from client programs running on other networked computers. The server and client communicate using a client server-protocol.
- SSL - Secure Sockets Layer, Is a techology developed by Netscape Communications Inc. for encrypting data sent between clients and servers. SSL is the basis for Netscape's secure communication technologies.
- URL - Uniform Resource Locator. A Web address, such as http://www.google.com.
- World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) - The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international consortium where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and public work together todevelop Web standards.
- World Wide Accessibility Initiative (WAI) - The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) works with organizations around the world to develop strategies, guidelines, and resources to help make the Web accessible to people with disabilities.
